A photo of the picturesque seaside town of Collioure and it’s harbour taken in the evening.
London used to be famous for its fogs. They still happen from time to time. This photo was taken on one such afternoon. Here the winter sun is poking through the bare trees, creating a golden sky, through the mist and fog.
This was a surprise shot. Sometimes they work out well. On a walk in the Sierra Nevada in Andalusia, a sudden turn around, and there was the sun poking through these trees. This is a bracketed shot of three exposures, enabling me to pull out the full highlights and shadows of the scene.
A minimalist phto of a sunrise on the river Dniper at what is called Kyiv Sea.
An early morning shot on a still day at Rutland Water. Here is St. Michael’s Church, normally called Normanton Church, dating from the nineteenth century.
The Dmanisi Sioni Church at sunset. Dmanisi is in the southern part of the Republic of Georgia and is a place where some of the first humans in Europe have been foound.
The beautiful monastery complex of Heghartsin in Armenia, dating from the thirteenth century. This was taken just after a storm and with the clouds covering the surrounding mountains.
My other work for a EU project takes me to different places. We held a session in a place called Pushcha, which is not far from Kyiv. It was the end of March and still snow around. On a walk near the complex we were staying, I came across this lake still with thick ice. This view I like, with one tree falling towards the ice.
An afternoon shot of a pond with reflections in the University Parks
This photo was taken in the Botanical Gardens in Tbilisi. he statue is called Kartlis Deda, or Mother of Kartli or Mother of a Georgian. With the sky becoming magenta on a summer’s evening, there is a feel of the mother looking out and protecting Georgia. The statue has a cup of wine for friends in one hand and a sword in the other. Designed in 1958, it is an important symbol for Georgians.
This set of rocks was taken near the city of Almeria, in eastern Andalucia. I hope you like.
This was taken in the Donana National Park in South West Spain. This is the time of year when the birds begin to migrate to warmer climes for the winter. I hope you like.
An evening shot of the Narikala Fortress and Metechi Bridge in Tbilisi
Palm trees reflected in a pond in the Maria Luisa Park in Seville, Spain
A beautiful sunset with a view of a promontory jutting out on the eastern shore of Lake Seven in Armenia.
A long exposure of a sunset on the Atlantic Ocean
This was taken near the town of Goris in the southern Syunik region of Armenia. It was quite a dramatic sunset!.
This was taken near Alaverdi, where this cloud suddenly appeared.
This was taken on a rainy late afternoon in Western Georgia at Tkibuli Lake. I like the drama in the sky the rough water on the main part of the lake, contrasting with a seeming serenity in the foreground
I was born in Oxford and often go back there. This was taken on a winter’s afternoon at Iffley Lock. The river was very still and so, with no need for a long exposure I was able to get the trees reflecting in thew water with a glimpse of the sun behind.
